Abstract

The New Britain Hebrew Ladies' Aid Society was incorporated in 1916 for the purpose of assisting needy Jews and doing general charitable work. With the establishment of the Esther Geisinger Educational Loan Fund in 1964, Society began to focus on aid to Jewish students who needed help with their educational expenses. In June, 1989, the Society was disbanded. The assets of the Geisinger Fund were turned over to the Endowment Foundation of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford for future administration. The general assets of the Society were donated to Jewish Family Service of Greater Hartford.
