General Note
This file contains two biographical essays describing Edith and Harry Kinas' Holocaust experiences as told by their daughter Barbara Sperber. One centers on her mother's experiences while the other focuses on her father.
The accounts detail how Edith and Harry met after escaping the ghetto and going into hiding together. They fell in love and got married even though Harry was 11 years older than Edith.
Harry may also have been a part of the resistance efforts, sneaking out of the ghetto to get food, medical supplies, and news from other ghettos. He found gold while cleaning out the house of a Jewish family under Nazi orders-that gold helped pay for him, Edith and three others to hide after they escaped the ghetto and survive the war. Harry was a dentist and became the medical expert of the group, even opperating on himself when his thumb became infected.
