Biographical / Historical
The Association of Jewish Registered Nurses, most commonly referred to as AJRN, was conceived by a nucleus of three Jewish registered nurses, Rose Berstein, Sally Chernoff, and Rose Dunn, in November 1949 in Hartford, CT. It was the desire of these women to further their interest in nursing and familiarize themselves with the latest trends in medicine and the newest techniques in nursing procedures. The Association's by-laws were approved in January 1950, and, within its first few years, the Association sponsored several important programs and its membership grew to over 60 members.
